Tandara is a camp that offers catered and self/catered accommodation for schools, family groups, Church groups and special interest groups. We also conduct various ministry camps throughout the year. Situated in Halls Gap – the heart of the Grampians – they are providing the opportunity for someone looking to serve the church, or just wants a year of personal growth as a gap year alternative through an internship program.
There are two (2) intern positions available and will also consider applicants that are 17 years of age.
Why become an intern?
An intern year is very different from any other you will experience. It is a year of serving others, a year to focus on God and a year of personal discovery and growth. It is a year of learning about relationships with others, encouragement, conflict resolution, listening and a year of change.
The main responsibility of the interns, is to assist in the day to day running of the campsite. This means teaching programs to school children, and providing Christ centred hospitality to all groups during their stay, food preparation and handling, cleaning and maintenance work. You will need to sacrifice personnel time as weekend work is involved and you will be sharing close living quarters with another Intern. Study is also involved.
However an Intern year is much more than this.
Interns are led through experiences based on deepening their faith and growing together as a team.
Where does an Internship lead?
It has been Warrambui’s and other campsites experience that Interns go on to become effective leaders in their local communities, some have gone into church work, others to university and many have become school teachers. Because the year is one of growth, personal reflection, acquiring a range of new skills and a time to focus on God, some Interns have found the direction of their life turned around completely. The possibilities are endless.
