Empower 2014

Filed under Publicity, Upcoming Events on November 2nd, 2013 | Comments »

Empower is on again!
Empower is a training event aimed for those primarily in youth ministry or leadership. Both the LYV and the LSF are playing an integral part in the organisation and running of the event – with the focus of equipping people with relevant skills which can be applied to a variety of contexts.

The format of the day has a keynote speaker, and then three sessions which are sure to engage and challenge all the participants. Between each session there is time to ‘catch a mental breath’ with lunch, and afternoon tea provided at the appropriate times.

Below you will find links to documents (in PDF format) that should provide all the information necessary.

Youth Internship @ Tandara

Filed under Publicity on September 14th, 2013 | Comments »

Tandara is a camp that offers catered and self/catered accommodation for schools, family groups, Church groups and special interest groups. We also conduct various ministry camps throughout the year. Situated in Halls Gap – the heart of the Grampians – they are providing the opportunity for someone looking to serve the church, or just wants a year of personal growth as a gap year alternative through an internship program.

There are two (2) intern positions available and will also consider applicants that are 17 years of age.

Why become an intern?

An intern year is very different from any other you will experience.  It is a year of serving others, a year to focus on God and a year of personal discovery and growth.  It is a year of learning about relationships with others, encouragement, conflict resolution, listening and a year of change.

The main responsibility of the interns,  is to assist in the day to day running of the campsite.  This means teaching programs to school children, and providing Christ centred hospitality to all groups during their stay, food preparation and handling, cleaning and maintenance work. You will need to sacrifice personnel time as weekend work is involved and you will be sharing close living quarters with another Intern. Study is also involved.

However an Intern year is much more than this.

Interns are led through experiences based on deepening their faith and growing together as a team.

Where does an Internship lead?

It has been Warrambui’s and other campsites experience that Interns go on to become effective leaders in their local communities, some have gone into church work, others to university and many have become school teachers. Because the year is one of growth, personal reflection, acquiring a range of new skills and a time to focus on God, some Interns have found the direction of their life turned around completely. The possibilities are endless.

CLW 2013 Registrations Now Open!

Filed under Camp Updates, Upcoming Events on May 26th, 2013 | Comments »

CLW is a week-long camping event for teenagers aged 13 ~ 18. Each year there is a different theme aimed to help grow and nurture campers faith. This year, the theme is “MeMe’s: It’s all about me – but who am I?” exploring ‘who we are in a world that is all about me’.  Being around other young Christians, and under the guidance of experienced leaders, will provide an environment where we can step back and have a look at who we are away from our everyday busy lives.

You can check out the CLW 2013 page for more information, or go straight to the Events Registration page to download a rego form!
