The Lutheran Youth of Victoria run three major camping events throughout the year. Each camp is designed to help grow and nurture the faith of all the campers, whilst continuing to strengthen and cement friendships made at other past camps and events.
Christian Life Week (CLW) [Ages: 13 – 18]
The flagship camp of the LYV; Christian Life Week is a week-long camp run three times throughout the year, with the goal of helping campers grow in their faith and understanding of the Bible, and its relevance in everyday life. During the camp, campers are placed into small groups, with discussions and activities aimed around the camps theme – which changes every year. With campers coming from all over the state, it also provides campers the opportunity to meet with other young Christians from a different background to their own. The camps are run at Tandara Lutheran Camp in the beautiful town of Halls Gap, in the Grampians.
Easter Camp [Ages: 16+]
Easter Camp – run during the Easter long weekend – is a more intensive camp, focusing on deeper spiritual discussions, and often confronting (questioning, and realising) the reality of Jesus’ death and resurrection. As a result of the more spiritually mature nature of the camp, it has a starting age of 16. Campers from CLW often go onto Easter Camp to discuss more serious topics and further their friendships formed at other camps and events. On Easter Sunday, the campers all travel to a nearby Lutheran congregation to take part in the service. The camp location varies from year-to-year, to cater for the wide audience coming from far and wide.
ReUnite [Ages: 15+]
ReUnite was borne out of a desire to have a camping oppertunity where campers and youth from across the state could spend more time to just talk and be in each others company. This isn’t merely a ‘relaxing’, laze-about weekend however. There are some Bible studies mixed in, as well as worship times. The focus of the camp is to help in further nurturing friendships formed, and to allow campers another oppertunity to spend a week in positive fellowship. The camp is run at Araluen Lutheran Camp, in the beach side town of Anglesea. Due to a slightly different natured camp, this is a 15+ event.
